Masterbatches are essential functional inputs in the polymer industry, enhancing the properties of polymers. Generic masterbatches are versatile, ready-to-use formulations that find applications across a broad spectrum of industries and product types. These masterbatches are designed to provide cost-effective solutions for a wide range of coloration and performance enhancement needs. They are added to the base polymer during the manufacturing process, making them a crucial component in achieving desired product characteristics.

Colour Masterbatches

Generic masterbatches are primarily used for coloration, offering a convenient way to introduce consistent and vibrant colors into plastic and rubber products. This is vital for enhancing the aesthetics of plastic articles. KONSPEC boasts a database of over 20,000 shades to address the coloring needs of plastics, available in various base resins such as PE, PP, PS, and a universal base. These color solutions, offered under the COLOSOL series of masterbatches, include whites, blacks, and a wide range of color effects such as transparent, translucent, opaque, pearlescent, granite, metallic, and fluorescent.

White Masterbatches

White masterbatches are used to impart whiteness and opacity to plastics. Their primary function is to provide uniform and consistent coloration to plastic products. They are commonly employed in applications requiring high whiteness and opacity. Typically, white masterbatches are composed of pigments such as titanium dioxide (TiO₂), often combined with extenders like calcium carbonate or barium sulfate. Careful selection of the appropriate type of titanium dioxide, with optimal particle size distribution and a suitable carrier resin, ensures the final color, brightness, and durability. White masterbatches deliver uniform and vibrant white coloration, which is essential for products with high aesthetic demands. They provide excellent opacity, effectively masking the underlying color. These masterbatches are available in neutral, blue-tint, violet-tone, and extra-high-brightness grades to meet industry requirements. Titanium loading levels range from 10% to 75% to suit specific applications. The range also includes non-yellowing grades for outdoor applications and non-lacing grades for flexible packaging.

Black Masterbatches

Black masterbatches ensure uniform and rich black coloration in plastic products, which is critical for applications where aesthetics are a priority. They are available with active carbon black loadings ranging from 20% to 60%, depending on the specific application. These masterbatches come in variants such as high jetness, high gloss, and blue or brown undertones. The range also includes UV-resistant grades for outdoor applications requiring extended service life.
