Sustainability

Over the last 150 years, with the development of mass manufacturing, a linear system was adopted. This system involves taking materials, producing an item, and then discarding it after use. The linear economy, known for its take-make-waste approach, has led to ecological overshoot. Unfortunately, in the last fifty years, we have already depleted 60 percent of the world’s ecosystems, which are crucial for our survival. The consequences of climate change are becoming more evident through events like flooding, droughts, storms, wildfires, and the extinction of species. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a warning in October 2019 regarding these alarming trends.

Linear as the word implies is linear…

Take – Make – Use – dispose – Pollute

Circular as the word implies is circular ..It is the contribution of every member of the

Make – Use – Reuse – Remake – repair – Recycle – Make

The KONSPEC family is committed to practicing the principles of the circular economy, aligning with KONSPEC’s sustainability goals and contributing to the well-being of our planet and future generations.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in utilizing natural fibers as reinforcing materials in commercial thermoplastics. Materials such as bamboo, wood, and jute offer the advantage of low density and high specific properties. Moreover, they require minimal energy input during processing and are derived from atmospheric carbon, contrasting with mined carbon sources. The benefits of reduced reliance on non-renewable resources, decreased pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, improved energy recovery, and transitioning to more environmentally friendly composites make natural fibres an appealing option. The evolving environmental regulations and consumer consciousness are compelling manufacturers to evaluate the environmental footprint of their products throughout their lifecycle, including disposal considerations. Through dedicated research efforts, KONSPEC has successfully developed premium wood plastic composite (WPC) decking and wall cladding products marketed under the brand name “WUDDY.” These products have undergone comprehensive characterization studies focusing on mechanical properties, chemical ultra-structure, water absorption, and thermal behavior.

“n2n” range of biodegradable & compostable Bioplastics

The Bio Compostable Materials Group addresses the path to reducing environmental impacts of traditional non compostable polymers. Non compostable “Old Carbon” polymers derived from crude oil have become an integral part of modern life, but their environmental impact, including pollution, resource consumption and the threat of ever pervasive micro plastics, has raised significant concerns. Compostable polymers aim to mitigate these challenges. At the beginning of their life cycle these polymers are driven from “New Carbon” or plant matter, and at the end of their life cycle, they break down into CO2, water & compost material, eliminating significant negative externalities associated with traditional crude oil derived polymers. Konspec offers products and solutions that are both industrially compostable & home compostable, based on required product specifications.

KONSPEC offers a wide range of biodegradable and compostable compounds, masterbatches, alloys & blends based on PLA, PBAT, PHAs, PHBs, PCL, PBS etc, to meet the most demanding requirements for a variety of flexible and rigid applications under its brand “n2n”.

Our brand “n2n” exemplifies our belief in a sustainable, environmental friendly and circular economy with resources harnessed from nature and returned to nature.
