Sustainability

Over the past 150 years, mass manufacturing has entrenched a linear economy: a take-make-waste system where materials are extracted, turned into products, used, and discarded. This approach has driven ecological overshoot, depleting 60% of the world’s vital ecosystems in just the last fifty years. The consequences of climate change—flooding, droughts, storms, wildfires, and species extinction—are increasingly evident. In October 2019, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a stark warning about these trends.

The linear model is straightforward:
Take → Make → Use → Dispose → Pollute

In contrast, the circular model loops back:
Make → Use → Reuse → Remake → Repair → Recycle → Make

The KONSPEC family is dedicated to embracing circular economy principles, aligning with our sustainability goals to safeguard the planet and ensure a thriving future for generations to come.

In recent years, interest in using natural fibers—such as bamboo, wood, and jute—as reinforcements in commercial thermoplastics has surged. These materials offer low density, high specific strength, and require minimal energy during processing. Sourced from atmospheric carbon rather than mined carbon, they reduce dependence on non-renewable resources, lower pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy recovery, and support the shift to eco-friendly composites. Evolving environmental regulations and rising consumer awareness are pushing manufacturers to assess their products’ environmental impact across their lifecycle, including disposal. Through focused research, KONSPEC has developed premium wood plastic composite (WPC) decking and wall cladding products under the brand “WUDDY”. These products have been thoroughly evaluated for mechanical properties, chemical ultrastructure, water absorption, and thermal behavior.

“n2n” Range of Biodegradable & Compostable Bioplastics

The Bio Compostable Materials Group at KONSPEC tackles the environmental challenges posed by traditional non-compostable polymers. Derived from crude oil (“old carbon”), these conventional plastics are ubiquitous in modern life but contribute to pollution, resource depletion, and the pervasive threat of microplastics. Compostable polymers offer a solution: sourced from plant-based “new carbon” at the start of their lifecycle, they break down into CO₂, water, and compost at the end, minimizing the negative impacts of oil-derived plastics. KONSPEC provides both industrially and home-compostable products and solutions, tailored to specific requirements.

Under the “n2n” brand, KONSPEC offers a diverse portfolio of biodegradable and compostable compounds, masterbatches, alloys, and blends—based on materials like PLA, PBAT, PHAs, PHBs, PCL, and PBS—designed to meet rigorous demands across flexible and rigid applications.

The “n2n” brand embodies our commitment to a sustainable, environmentally friendly circular economy, where resources are drawn from nature and returned to it.
